LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club announced on Monday the club had signed Ghanaian midfielder Latif Atta Blessing to a multi-year contract. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Blessing joins Lexington having most recently competed for Houston Dynamo FC of Major League Soccer during the 2024 season. The 28-year-old recorded five goals and one assist in 27 appearances in the league campaign, moving past 200 regular-season appearances in MLS for his career.
Prior to competing for Houston, Blessing had stints with the New England Revolution and Toronto FC. His most successful run in the top flight came with Los Angeles FC, where he was part of the side that won the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2019 and 2022 and MLS Cup in 2022. Blessing made 145 appearances for LAFC, recording 14 goals and 14 assists.
A native of Accra, Ghana, Blessing broke into the professional ranks with Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Premier League, where he became the league’s top scorer in 2016 with 17 goals and earned recognition as the league’s Player of the Year. That season not only showcased his scoring ability but also his fearless style of play, catching the attention of international scouts and paving the way for his move to the United States.
In 2017, Blessing joined Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer, where he recorded 25 appearances in the regular season and scored three goals as SKC claimed the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. His career took another leap forward when he was selected by Los Angeles FC in the MLS Expansion Draft later that year.
