COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed forward Kyle Vassell for the 2025 USL Championship season.
Vassell makes his return to the USL Championship having previously competed for San Diego Loyal SC during the 2022 season. The 32-year-old recorded 14 goals and two assists in 1,963 minutes across 30 appearances for SC Loyal, averaging a goal every 140.2 minutes while posting a shot conversion rate of 20.9 percent.
“I’m really excited about joining the Switchbacks. It’s a fantastic club with lots of talented players,” said Vassell. “I can’t wait to meet the team and help compete for the title again.”
Most recently, Vassell competed for Kilmarnock FC in the Scottish Premiership, where he recorded 15 goals and six assists in 72 appearances for the club. During the 2023-24 season, Vassell recorded nine goals and three assists to help Kilmarnock finish fourth in the Scottish top-flight, earning qualification to the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League Qualifying stage.
“Vassell is a fantastic signing for our club,” said Switchbacks Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “The club is progressing in every department, and this signing has shown what this club is willing to do. Kyle has a proven goalscoring record throughout his career and dominated the league when he played for San Diego Loyal. He is a physically imposing center forward who will create more chances for others around him, but also take his chances in front of the goal. We are delighted to welcome Kyle and his family to the Springs and wish him all the best.”
