TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced that Sacramento Republic FC goalkeeper Danny Vitiello has been voted the USL Championship Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball with three clean sheets in three appearances.
Vitiello posted shutouts in all three of his appearances on the month for Republic FC: a 2-0 victory at Las Vegas on July 5, a 3-0 victory against El Paso on July 13 and a scoreless draw against Lexington on July 20. Vitiello registered four saves and a goals prevented mark of -1.32 while moving into a tie for the league lead for shutouts on the season.
"I'm incredibly honored to be named Player of the Month," Vitiello said. "It's a reflection of the hard work put in by the entire team. The clean sheets and results wouldn't be possible without everyone doing their part. I'm proud of what we have accomplished so far, and I'll keep working hard to help the team continue building momentum."
Vitiello earned 42% of a weighted poll that included the USL Championship Technical Committee, a national panel of independent media representing every USL market and an online fan vote held at USLChampionship.com. Miami FC forward Francisco Bonfiglio finished second on 32% with four goals in four league appearances, while Hartford Athletic forward Mamadou Dieng finished third on 21% with four goal contributions across all competitions.
