Phoenix's Charlie Dennis named Player of the Round after record-breaking performance

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League (USL) today announced the Team of the Round for Round 3 of the 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup, with Phoenix Rising FC midfielder Charlie Dennis named Player of the Round with a hat trick and an assist in a 5-4 win against Texoma FC.

In the highest-scoring match in USL Jägermeister Cup history, Dennis became the first player in the tournament's young history to record four goal contributions in a single match. Dennis' 50-minute hat trick - the second of his seven-year professional career - was complemented by an assist on Darius Johnson's 24th-minute score, helping Phoenix to its first USL Jägermeister Cup victory.

"I'm delighted with that," Dennis said of his performance. "Most importantly, we won the game at the end, but we made it difficult. A lot of lessons to be learned there. We'll definitely improve next time and take that into the following games.

"In that sense, it's great to get on the scoresheet, especially three goals. I'm going to be working even harder now to keep that up."
