ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Thursday captain and center back Kalen Ryden underwent successful surgery to repair a broken clavicle on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryden suffered the injury in Saturday contest against Lexington SC. The 34-year-old is expected to miss 1-2 months, with the club, New Mexico Orthopaedics, and Elevate committed to providing Ryden with the best in treatment and recovery care.

An offseason arrival prior to the 2020 season, Ryden is currently New Mexico’s all-time leader in minutes (11,786) and has played a key role at the heart of the club’s defense this season.

With Ryden on the field, New Mexico has allowed 0.5 goals per 90 minutes this season, conceding only six times in 1,005 minutes, while conceding six times in the 197 minutes he has been absent, an average of 2.7 goals per 90 minutes.
