Robbie Mertz's one-goal, one-assist performance lifts Pittsburgh over Detroit

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced the Team of the Week for Week 13/14 of the 2025 regular season, with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Robbie Mertz named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory against Detroit City FC.

Through 69 minutes of play, the Pittsburgh native registered the eighth multi-goal-contribution match of his seven-year professional career - his first since 2022 - to help the Hounds to back-to-back shutout league victories for the second time this season. Mertz's 20th goal for his hometown club came in his 150th appearance for the Hounds, and just two days after the birth of his first son.

"First of all, I give God the glory, because you realize, going through this process, what a miracle life is," Mertz said of his last few days on and off the pitch. "So, that's first and foremost, and to back it up on the back end with something much less important but still very rewarding with tonight's performance, it's just amazing.

"Honestly, so much credit goes to the team tonight, because you could feel the energy was a little bit different tonight. I hope we can continue it, but this was something I'll never forget — the best two days of my life."
