USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – May

Four standouts shone in the third month of the campaign, which gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced the nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball for May, honoring four of the top performers through the third month of the 2025 season.

Voting for the Championship Player of the Month award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51% of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, June 9 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee's ballots comprise 25% of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24% of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, June 12.

Please note: The Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as Championship Player of the Year or position players of the year. Additionally, the selection process takes both USL Championship and USL Jägermeister Cup matches into consideration.

USL Championship Player of the Month – May 2025

Andy Cabrera, El Paso Locomotive FC – Cabrera led the Championship with eight goal contributions in four games, recording six goals and two assists while notching the first hat trick in Locomotive history against rival New Mexico United, while also recording seven chances created.

Cal Jennings, Charleston Battery – Jennings extended his goal contributions streak to equal a league-record at nine games with six goals and one assist in four regular season games over the month, posting a shooting accuracy rate of 72.7 percent as the Battery swept to four consecutive league wins.

Francisco Bonfiglio, Miami FC – The Argentine recorded three goals and two assists across four appearances in the Championship and USL Jägermeister Cup, extending his scoring streak to five games in the league, while posting a 66.7 shooting accuracy rate and 25 percent shot conversion rate.

Danny Vitiello, Sacramento Republic FC – Vitiello recorded 10 saves in three appearances in the Championship, posting a save percentage of 90.9 percent and a Goals Prevented mark of -2.68 while allowing only one goal and posting two shutouts in an undefeated month for Republic FC in league action.
