NEW MEXICO’S TAMBAKIS SET FOR FIRST SHOT AT EQUALING SHUTOUTS RECORD
New Mexico United goalkeeper Alex Tambakis will get his first chance to equal the USL Championship’s regular season record for shutouts on Saturday when United played host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Tambakis currently sits on 57 regular season shutouts, one behind Evan Newton on 58.

The 32-year-old native of Greece has already become the Championship’s all-time leader in saves, entering Saturday with 638 in his career, and has recorded five shutouts so far this campaign. Tambakis has yet to record a season with double-digit shutouts in his career, equaling his career high a season ago with eight in 32 appearances.

Birmingham Legion FC set a USL Jägermeister Cup record with 14 blocked shots in the club’s 2-1 victory against FC Tulsa on Saturday night at ONEOK Field. The total was only the third time a club had recorded double-digit blocks in the competition, and surpassed Lexington SC’s 13 blocked shots against Greenville Triumph SC on June 29, 2024 in the inaugural edition of the competition.

Birmingham’s block total set a club record across USL-sanctioned competitions. It also ranked tied for the fifth-most since the start of the 2017 season across the USL Championship, USL League One and USL Jägermeister Cup, four off the record set by Indy Eleven of 18 blocked shots against Louisville City FC on October 5, 2024 at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.

INDY ELEVEN’S AODHAN QUINN LOOKS TO EXTEND ASSISTS STREAK

Indy Eleven midfielder Aodhan Quinn extended his assists streak to four consecutive games last Wednesday night as he provided the helper on Romario Williams’ opening goal in the 4-4 draw at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in first half stoppage time.

Quinn is now one assist shy of equaling his individual career high of assists in five consecutive games, set with Phoenix Rising FC during the 2021 season. He is also the only player to have recorded three streaks of at least four assists in the Championship regular season in the league’s history, with Danny Barrera having previously done so twice with Sacramento Republic FC in 2016 and Hartford Athletic in 2022, and Antoine Hoppenot having recorded two such streaks for Reno 1868 FC in 2018.

- Indy Eleven and Hartford Athletic played the second 4-4 draw in the USL Championship this season last Wednesday night, following the same scoreline between El Paso Locomotive FC and Phoenix Rising FC on March 15. The result equaled the highest-scoring draw in the Championship’s regular season history, and marked the 10th occasion the scoreline had occurred overall.

- FC Tulsa forward Taylor Calheira has scored in four consecutive games in the USL Championship, recording his fifth goal in that span in the Scissortails’ 1-1 draw against San Antonio FC last Wednesday night. Calheira’s streak has equaled a club record previously achieved by Sammy Ochoa, Dario Suárez and Phillip Goodrum.

- Indy Eleven forward Romario Williams’ two-goal performance after coming on as a first-half substitute for the Boys in Blue marked the first time a substitute had recorded multiple goals for Indy in a regular season contest since the club joined the USL Championship in 2018.

- Phoenix Rising FC and Orange County SC will meet for the 33rd time in the USL Championship’s regular season on Saturday night, the most of any series between two clubs in the league’s modern era. Rising holds a 13-10-9 advantage in the series during the regular season.

- Louisville City FC’s Sean Totsch could become the first player to record 20,000 regular season minutes for a single club in the USL Championship’s regular season on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Totsch has logged 19,956 minutes for LouCity since joining the club for the 2017 season.

- Phoenix Rising FC defender Mohamed Traore made his 100th appearance in the USL Championship regular season last Wednesday night, coming on as a second-half substitute against Las Vegas Lights FC.

Discipline Report – Week 14

TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL Championship’s discipline report for Week 14 of the 2025 USL Championship season:

Lexington SC’s Nicolas Firmino has been suspended for one game following his red card for serious foul play against the Charlotte Independence on May 31. Firmino will be unavailable for selection in Lexington’s USL Jägermeister Cup contest against the Richmond Kickers on June 28.

Oakland Roots SC assistant coach Oscar Rivero has been suspended for one game following his red card for unauthorized use of an electronic device against AV ALTA FC on May 31. Rivero will serve his suspension during Roots’ USL Jägermeister Cup contest against Monterey Bay FC on June 28.

The following players enter the upcoming matches one caution away from their eighth yellow card of the season and a one-game suspension for caution accumulation.
