COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Friday it had signed defender Tyler Clegg for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join this club and be part of the group,” said Clegg.  “I’m looking forward to playing in front of the home fans and doing whatever I can to help bring success to this team.”

Clegg joins the Switchbacks having most recently competed for Sacramento Republic FC on a 25-day contract earlier this season in the USL Championship, appearing as a late substitute in a 2-2 draw against the Switchbacks on March 22.

The 6-foot-3 center back had previously spent two seasons with the Portland Timbers organization, making 44 appearances for the Timbers 2 in MLS NEXT Pro and two appearances for the Timbers in the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Clegg competed collegiately at James Madison University and in five seasons recorded 78 appearances and 5,270 minutes of action. During the 2021 season he was voted to the All-Colonial Athletic Association All-Conference First Team, while also earning Sun Belt All-Tournament Team honors in 2022.

“Clegg is a solid center back who suits our style of play,” said Switchbacks Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “His composure and defensive positioning are why we are excited to have him in the building and compete for that spot.”
