CHARLESTON BATTERY’S WINNING STREAK MOVES INTO TOP 10 ALL-TIME
The Charleston Battery earned their seventh consecutive victory in USL Championship play on Saturday with a 3-1 victory against Detroit City FC. The streak is the Battery’s longest in the Championship era, surpassing a six-game streak a season ago, and moved into a tie for the seventh-longest winning streak in the league’s history.
Only two clubs have recorded double-digit winning streaks in the Championship history previously, with Phoenix Rising FC recording a 20-game streak in the 2019 season and FC Cincinnati recording a 10-game streak in the 2018 season. Of the six clubs to record an eight-game winning streak during a regular season campaign, only one – Orange County SC in 2023 – did not win the Players’ Shield.

Louisville City FC ran its undefeated streak to 10 games to start the 2025 USL Championship season on Saturday night with a 2-0 victory against Monterey Bay FC. The 10-game run equaled the club’s longest undefeated streak to start a season, equaling LouCity’s start to the 2022 season when it went 7-0-3 to begin the campaign.
Louisville still has a way to go to move into the realm of the longest undefeated streaks to start a USL Championship season. The record stands at 22 games, set by the Richmond Kickers in the 2013 season when the club ended the campaign with a 15-1-10 record to claim the Players’ Shield.

The Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings recorded a two-goal performance on Saturday in his side’s 3-1 victory against Detroit City FC. The performance saw Jennings equal the Championship’s record for consecutive games with a goal contribution at nine games, with the 28-year-old having recorded 11 goals and two assists in that span to draw level with former Phoenix Rising FC forward Solomon Asanté, who accomplished the feat in 2019, and current Tampa Bay Rowdies winger Leo Fernandes, who did so in the 2022 campaign.

Jennings’ performance marked the second time in his career he had logged multiple goals in consecutive games, having previously done so for Memphis 901 FC during the 2020 season. Jennings scored twice against the Charlotte Independence on September 26, 2020 before bagging a hat trick against Birmingham Legion FC on October 3, 2020 in the prior occasion.
He is now one two-goal game away from tying Dane Kelly for the most two-goal performances in the Championship’s regular season, and two multi-goal performances from tying Kelly for the most multi-goal performances in the Championship’s regular season.

Louisville City FC announced on Tuesday it had acquired forward Cameron Lancaster on loan from fellow USL Championship club Lexington SC for the remainder of the 2025 season. The move brings Lancaster to LouCity for his third stint with the club, with the veteran English forward sitting as the leading goalscorer for an individual club in the USL Championship’s regular season history.

- New Mexico United goalkeeper Alex Tambakis recorded his 57th shutout in the USL Championship regular season in his side’s 3-0 victory against Oakland Roots SC on Saturday. The 32-year-old is now one shy of equaling the league record of 58 shutouts held by Evan Newton.
- Birmingham Legion FC goalkeeper Matt VanOekel became the third goalkeeper to pass 500 saves in the USL Championship regular season with his four-save performance against Miami FC. VanOekel now sits on 502 saves for his career in the league in 154 regular season appearances for Legion.
- Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Danny Griffin became the 20th player to record 150 regular season appearances for one club this past Saturday in the Hounds’ 1-0 victory against Rhode Island FC. Griffin is the third player to do so for the Hounds, following Kenardo Forbes (210) and Kevin Kerr (183).
- El Paso Locomotive FC’s 2-1 victory against Las Vegas Lights FC marked its victory after conceding the opening goal in the Championship since June 15, 2023, also against the Lights, breaking a run of 29 games without a win.
- Miami FC’s Francisco Bonfiglio scored in his fifth consecutive Championship contest in his side’s defeat to Birmingham Legion FC, extending his club record and moving within three games of equaling the longest scoring streak in Championship history.
