CHARLESTON’S CAL JENNINGS CONTINUES GOAL CONTRIBUTIONS STREAK
The Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings continued to make his mark on the USL Championship’s all-time leaderboards on Saturday with his two-goal performance against San Antonio FC. The brace marked the eighth consecutive Championship game in which the 28-year-old had recorded either a goal or assist, recording nine goals and two assists in that span.
Jennings’ eight-game streak with a goal contribution is only one shy of the Championship’s longest individual streak. Previously, Solomon Asanté recorded a nine-game streak for Phoenix Rising FC between May 18 and July 19, 2019, in which he recorded 11 goals and seven assists at the peak of the club’s 20-game winning streak that season. Asanté was joined in recording a nine-game goal contributions streak by Leo Fernandes of the Tampa Bay Rowdies between June 5 and July 30, 2022, over which span he recorded 10 goals and two assists. Both players went on to win the league’s Player of the Year award at the end of the regular season.
