LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Friday it had acquired defender Garrison Tubbs on loan from MLS side D.C. United for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. Tubbs will be available for selection in Loudoun’s contest against Lexington SC in the USL Jägermeister Cup on Saturday.
A former Homegrown signing by Atlanta United FC, Tubbs was acquired by D.C. United for General Allocation Money prior to the 2024 season. The 23-year-old appeared in 15 matches for D.C. in the campaign, including seven starts, totaling 549 minutes played. He recorded an 88% pass completion rate over the course of the season.
“I’m excited to get in with the guys and build relationships on the field,” said Tubbs. “I’m ready to get started, grind with everyone, and win some more games.”
“Garrison is a talented, ball-playing center back who has a great range of passing and can help us build the game the way we want to,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He had a tremendous college career at Wake Forest, and we look forward to welcoming him to Loudoun.”
Before signing a homegrown contract with Atlanta United, Tubbs played for NCAA Division I side Wake Forest University from 2020 to 2023. During his senior season with the Demon Deacons, Tubbs captained the squad and earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors as well as being a finalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy. Over four seasons at Wake Forest, Tubbs made 68 appearances, including 66 starts, and contributed three goals and five assists.
Tubbs also brings prior USL Championship experience, having made 12 appearances for Atlanta United 2 as a USL Academy signing during the 2019 season, making his debut on July 28, 2019 against North Carolina FC.
