Orange County SC signs defender Koa Santos

Hawaii native made 25 appearances for Switchbacks during run to 2024 Championship title

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday the club had signed defender Koa Santos for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. Santos will be available for selection when Orange County faces Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night in the USL Jägermeister Cup group stage.

Santos signed with Orange County SC after reaching a mutual release with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The 25-year-old recorded 28 appearances for the Switchbacks since joining the club at the start of the 2024 season and recorded two goals and 31 chances created for the side during its run to the USL Championship title a season ago.

A native of Hawaii, Santos had previously competed for Loudoun United FC in the Championship, recording 25 appearances and 2,179 minutes of action for the club in the 2023 season.

After competing collegiately at San Diego State University, Santos began his career in the professional ranks with Charlotte FC, where he signed before the club’s inaugural season in Major League Soccer in 2022. While with the Queen City club, Santos spent time on loan with the Charlotte Independence of USL League One, where he logged 20 appearances and had one goal, three assists and 24 chances created in the 2022 season.
