Charleston's MD Myers named Player of the Week with five-minute brace

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced the Team of the Week for Week 7 of the 2025 regular season, with Charleston Battery forward MD Myers named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a five-minute, match-winning brace against Indy Eleven.

The 24-year-old has kicked off his third professional season on a tear, totaling six goals and one assist through four April matches across all competitions. With goals in the fourth and ninth minutes on the road against Indy, Myers' seventh professional brace powered Charleston to its fourth consecutive victory across all competitions.

"It was a big performance from the team to pick up our first road win of the season," Myers said. "Starting the game off with two goals in the opening 10 minutes was huge, and the boys were just clicking from the jump. I was able to take some momentum from bagging a few goals in the U.S. Open Cup midweek, and the team as a whole is just flying right now. The award is theirs as much as it is mine."

"MD's got five goals in the last two matches," Charleston Head Coach Ben Pirmann said after the victory. "I think Cal [Jennings] was in the top couple in the league at one point, scoring goals. For me, I don't care who scores, I just care that we are scoring and that we're creating chances, because with the group that we have, if we move the ball selflessly, work very, very hard and intensely, with intensity out of possession, then we're going to score goals.

"So, I'm very, very proud of MD, but for me, it's more important that the team as a whole continues to score; I don't really care who does it."

The Championship's Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship. Myers finished with 45%, while Tulsa's Taylor Calheira finished second on 36%.
