CAL JENNINGS HITS 70 REGULAR SEASON GOALS LANDMARK
The Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings recorded his 70th goal in the USL Championship on Saturday night, delivering the game-winner in a 2-1 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Patriots Point. Jennings is the 10th player to reach the mark in the league’s history and did so in a league-fewest 128 games, adding to his marks as the fastest player to reach 50 goals (90 games) and 60 goals (108 games) in league history.
Jennings remains in the top two in the USL Championship all-time in terms of scoring prolificacy, having averaged a goal every 134.1 minutes since his debut in the league in 2020. That trails only current Lexington SC forward Cameron Lancaster among players with at least 50 goals. Lancaster’s 80 goals have come at a strike rate of a goal every 114.9 minutes.

MIAMI FC BREAKS WINLESS RUN IN SAN ANTONIO

Miami FC earned its first win in the USL Championship in 224 days this past Saturday, taking a 2-1 victory against San Antonio FC at Toyota Field for its first league win of the season. Miami had last taken victory in a league contest on August 31, 2024 against Monterey Bay FC at Pitbull Stadium.
The first league win under new Head coach Gastón Maddoni also marked the first away win for the club in 553 days, having last taken victory on the road in a 2-1 win against the Charleston Battery on October 7, 2023, at Patriots Point. Miami recorded only one point on the road in 2024, becoming only the second team to go winless away from home in an unabbreviated regular season following FC Tulsa in 2018 when the Scissortails went 0-11-6.
SACRAMENTO JOINS OWN-GOALS LIST IN LOSS TO OCSC
Sacramento Republic FC became the sixth team to be credited with two own goals in the same USL Championship regular season game in its 2-1 defeat to Orange County SC this past Saturday at Championship Soccer Stadium, with goalkeeper Danny Vitiello and midfielder Blake Willey awarded the OGs in either half.
An instance of two own goals being credited to one club in the same game has now occurred in each of the past four seasons. All six teams on record have suffered defeat in the game in which the instances occurred.

- Detroit City FC’s 3-2 comeback victory against Phoenix Rising FC marked the first time Le Rouge had rallied to win from a two-goal deficit since joining the USL Championship in 2022. It also marked the second instance of a three-goal comeback this season after San Antonio FC’s 3-2 win against Lexington SC on March 29.
- Miami FC’s Bolu Akinyode became the 13th player to record 250 regular season appearances in the USL Championship this past Saturday as the side took a 2-1 win against San Antonio FC. Akinyode has made 97 regular-season appearances for Miami overall, the most by any player since the club joined the USL Championship in 2020.
- The Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings is on a four-game scoring streak, one shy of his career best of five consecutive appearances with a goal achieved with the Tampa Bay Rowdies between August 18-Sept. 9, 2023.
- Phoenix Rising FC’s 3-2 loss to Detroit City FC marked the first time the side had lost after leading by two or more goals in the USL Championship since June 28, 2014, against Orange County SC.
- Wolfgang Prentice became the fourth player to record a two-goal game for Oakland Roots SC since it joined the USL Championship in 2021, joining Jonathan Rodriguez (4), Óttar Magnus Karlsson (4) and Lindo Mfeka (3).

San Antonio FC Head Coach Carlos Llamosa has been suspended for one game following his red card for Leaving the Technical Area to Dissent the Match Official against Miami FC on April 12. Llamosa will serve his suspension during San Antonio’s contest against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wednesday, April 23.
