SAN ANTONIO CONTINUES PERFECT START TO SEASON
San Antonio FC earned its fourth consecutive victory to start the 2025 USL Championship season with its 3-2 victory against Lexington SC this past Saturday, setting a club record for wins to start a campaign. The side also became the 10th team in the Championship’s history to record at least four wins to start a regular season, chasing the league record of six consecutive victories held by the 2011 Richmond Kickers and 2012 Rochester Rhinos.
San Antonio Head Coach Carlos Llamosa, meanwhile, is only the third first-year manager to lead his side to a four-game winning streak to start a season. The Rhinos’ six-game streak was led by Jesse Myers, who was appointed prior to the 2012 season, while Detroit City FC’s five-game streak a season ago was led by current Head Coach Danny Dichio, who was appointed prior to the 2024 season.
Of the previous nine teams to record at least a four-game winning streak to start the season, one has gone on to win the USL Championship title (Louisville City FC, 2018), one has gone on to win the USL Championship Players’ Shield (Tampa Bay Rowdies, 2021), and one went on to miss out on a postseason berth (Indy Eleven, 2020).
