CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence today announced the signing of midfielder Alfredo Midence on a season-long loan from USL Championship side Lexington SC, pending league and federation approval.
The 22-year-old Honduran joins the Jacks after being named the 2024 USL League One Young Player of the Year - just in front of fellow Jack Luis Álvarez - and winning the 2024 USL League One Golden Playmaker award. With two goals and eight assists in the regular season, Midence also earned All-League Second Team honors.
Midence's 133 minutes per assist in 2024 is the most in a single regular season in league history among players who played at least 25% of their team's minutes. In six USL Jägermeister Cup appearances for Fuego FC last year, Midence added two goals and one assist.
The La Ceiba, Honduras native moved to Laurel, Md. when he was 15. Before signing his first professional contract with Central Valley last year, Midence spent time in the D.C. United Academy and later with amateur sides Club Atlético Los Toros of the APL and Club Deportivo Laurel of the UPSL.
In one appearance with Lexington SC this season, Midence tallied three assists and one goal in a 5-0 First Round U.S. Open Cup victory against Southern Indiana FC. In the win, Midence became the first player in Lexington SC history to register four goal contributions in a single match.
