Oakland Roots SC is going to make history this Saturday night.

With more than 20,000 tickets having already been snapped up for Saturday night’s inaugural game at the historic Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the club is going to smash its single-game attendance record.

But how high up the ladder in USL Championship single-game history could Roots climb as it hosts San Antonio FC at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+)?

Four days from kickoff, it’s already well up there, and has an outside shot at surpassing the league attendance record held by FC Cincinnati of 31,478 fans at Nippert Stadium against Indy Eleven on September 29, 2018.

Largest Single-Game USL Championship Regular Season Attendances by Club
1. FC Cincinnati – 31,478 vs. Indy Eleven, 9/29/18
2. Sacramento Republic FC – 20,341 vs. Orange County SC, 8/26/23
3. Indy Eleven – 20,251 vs. Hartford Athletic, 3/30/19
4. Nashville SC – 18,922 vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, 3/24/18
5. New Mexico United – 15,247 vs. LA Galaxy II, 8/17/19

Already set to become the fourth club in USL Championship history to surpass an attendance mark of 20,000, the only question left is how much farther Roots can rise.
