TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced the Team of the Week for Week 1 of the 2025 regular season with Sacramento Republic FC forward Lewis Jamieson named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with the match-winning goal in his SRFC debut.
In front of a sold-out Heart Health Park crowd, Jamieson played a role in both of Republic FC's two goals, winning a penalty in the 43rd minute before scoring the winning goal in the 47th minute. The former Scottish Premiership and Championship forward reunited with his former Raith Rovers FC head coach, Neill Collins, to lead Sacramento to its first victorious home opener since 2022.
"Unbelievable," Jamieson said of his debut. "The fans turned out in the numbers like we all knew they would, and it's a surreal moment for myself, obviously, on my debut in front of all the fans to score my goals; for the strikers, it's a dream.
"To be Player of the Week on my debut is a huge achievement, but now we need to focus on the next game and building momentum."
The Championship's Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship. Jamieson finished with 40%, while Orange County's Kyle Scott with 30%.
