LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Friday the club had signed midfielder Benjamin Mines to a one-year contract for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Mines joins Loudoun United having most recently competed for fellow USL Championship club Indy Eleven, where he logged 21 appearances and 1,218 minutes of action in the 2024 campaign. The 24-year-old will enter his 10th season in the professional ranks this year having made his debut for New York Red Bulls II during the club’s Championship title-winning season in 2016.
“I’m really excited to be at the club and be part of such a great group of people,” said Mines. “I believe we can do something special this year, and I will make sure to give my everything to make that happen.”
A native of Ridgefield, Conn., Mines came through the Red Bulls Academy before turning pro with Red Bulls II in the Championship. He made 52 appearances for the side overall, and was signed to a Homegrown Player deal by the Red Bulls in 2018. Mines made six appearances in Major League Soccer for the club, recording two goals and one assist, before being acquired by FC Cincinnati in the 2021 season.
That season he went on loan to Championship club Orange County SC, where he helped the side win the 2021 USL Championship title while recording three goals in 11 appearances. Mines also spent time on loan with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the 2022 season before stints with Miami FC and Indy over the past two seasons.
“Ben is someone we have watched closely for the last few years on other teams in this league and really thought highly of,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He has tremendous versatility and fits seamlessly into our group here. We expect him to play a massive role in the 2025 edition of Loudoun United Football Club.”
