Orange County signs veteran defender Tom Brewitt

28-year-old joins from EFL club Swindon Town, brings prior experience from Tacoma, Hartford

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday the club had signed defender Tom Brewitt ahead of the upcoming 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Brewitt joins OCSC from Swindon Town F.C., where he has spent the past two seasons competing in EFL League Two in his native England. The 28-year-old recorded 43 league appearances for Swindon, logging 3,031 minutes and scoring one goal during his time at the club.

“I’m delighted to be joining Orange County SC and looking forward to having a big impact on and off the pitch for OC,” said Brewitt. “I’m looking forward to a successful year and aiming for the top in 2025!”

A native of Liverpool, Brewitt brings prior experience in the USL Championship to Orange County. In 2021 he competed for Tacoma Defiance before spending the 2022 season with Hartford Athletic, compiling 60 league appearances and recording five goals and two assists. Across the two seasons, the center back recorded 166 clearances, 100 interceptions and 307 recoveries while posting a duel success rate of 60.4 percent and an aerial duel success rate of 67 percent.

Prior to joining Tacoma, Brewitt competed in the Premier League 2 for both Liverpool and Middlesbrough before joining Fylde of the National League. In the 2019-20 season, he joined Morecambe in EFL League Two, and 22 appearances for the side, recording one goal and two assists.
