MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Monday it had signed experience goalkeeper Bill Hamid ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Hamid enters his 17th season in the professional ranks bringing experience from Major League Soccer and the United States Men’s National Team. The 34-year-old began his professional career with D.C. United in 2009, becoming the first DCU Academy player to sign a professional contract with the club.

In his time with D.C., Hamid recorded 297 appearances across all competitions, recording 976 saves in the MLS regular season at a save percentage of 72.4 percent and logging 80 shutouts. In 2014 he was voted MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, while in 2013 he helped the side win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Internationally, Hamid made his debut for the United States in 2012. He recorded eight appearances for the side and was part of the side that claimed the 2013 and 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup.

“First and foremost, I want to say thank you to Dario Sala, the team owners, and the coaches for their faith in me to be a part of their team. I look forward to helping the team achieve its objectives,” said Hamid.  “The club has great plans, great ambition, and they want to win, so I will sacrifice everything and bring my experience to help my teammates and myself be at our best so we will win! We’ve got a fantastic group and a very strong coaching staff, with everyone together, great things are possible.”

More recently, Hamid competed in the USL Championship for Memphis 901 FC during the 2023 before a stint with Maryland Bobcats FC during the past campaign.

He heads to South Florida aiming to make a similar impression to that being made by younger sister Jasmine Hamid, who is currently starring for Fort Lauderdale United FC in the USL Super League. Jasmine Hamid has recorded four goals and two assists so far this season, claiming the USL Super League’s Player of the Month Award for December.
