SHERMAN, Texas - Texoma FC today announced the signing of two-time USL Championship Player of the Year Solomon Asante, pending league and federation approval. The 34-year-old former Ghana international winger joins the expansion side after spending the last seven seasons in the USL Championship.

"Solomon is a special player and is an incredible announcement for any club," said Texoma President Ben Watson. "We are blessed to be welcoming a player that has won virtually every accolade across the USL."

"You look at the career he has had, the awards he has won throughout his USL career - I am incredibly excited to have him as a part of the team," said Texoma Head Coach Adrian Forbes. "Besides being a goalscoring and attacking threat, he is a fantastic human being who will be looking to guide and mentor our younger attackers to follow in his footsteps."

The Kumasi, Ghana native began his professional career in 2007 with Feyenoord Ghana in the Ghana Premier League. He spent the next decade in Africa with ASFA Yennenga in Burkina Faso (2009-11), Berekum Chelsea FC in Ghana (2011-13), and TP Mazembe (2013-17) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During his time in Africa, Asante produced more than 75 goals across league play, CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup play.

In 2018, Asante moved to the United States and spent the next seven seasons in the USL Championship with Phoenix Rising FC (2018-21), Indy Eleven (2022-23) and Las Vegas Lights FC (2024).

Through four seasons with Phoenix, Asante became Rising FC's all-time leader in goals (54) and assists (42) while becoming the first player to earn consecutive Championship Player of the Year awards in 2019 and 2020. He also became only the second player to win the Golden Boot and Golden Playmaker award in the same season, logging an individual single season-record 39 goal contributions and 17 assists while also bagging 22 goals.

He went on to claim the Golden Playmaker award for a second time in 2020 while earning three All-League First Team selections (2018, 2019, 2020). The Ghanaian winger also won three trophies with the club: the Western Conference title in 2018 and 2020 and the Players' Shield in 2019.

Between 2022 and 2024, Asante made a combined 96 appearances with Indy Eleven and Las Vegas Lights FC across all competitions, totaling three goals and 23 assists between the pair.
