North Carolina FC signs Martinique international Patrick Burner

CARY, N.C. – North Carolina FC announced on Tuesday it had signed defender Patrick Burner to a two-year contract through the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Burner brings nine seasons of professional experience in France to North Carolina, including 78 appearances in top flight Ligue 1. After coming through the Academy at OGC Nice, Burner recorded 73 appearances for the club’s First Team, appearing in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League Qualifying for the club.

More recently. He competed for Nîmes Olympique, where he made 115 appearances across all competitions, recording two goals and five assists.

“First, I am happy to sign and happy to be a part of the organization,” said Burner. “I can bring something to the team. This is a new experience for me in the United States. I can’t wait to start playing in the USL and to help North Carolina win.”

A native of Fort-de-France, Martinique, the 28-year-old has also recorded four goals in 15 appearances for his home country at the senior international level. Burner made his debut for Martinique at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and has more recently appeared for the side in the 2023 Gold Cup and 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League.

“We are very excited to add Patrick to our team,” said NCFC Head Coach and Sporting Director John Bradford said. “He has high quality experience at the highest level in France, as well as internationally with Martinique. He is a two-sided player that is effective on both sides of the ball. We’re looking forward to his addition to the group.”
