SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Friday it had signed defender Jimmy Medranda and forward Luis Andres Paredes ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval and per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Medranda joins San Antonio bringing extensive experience in Major League Soccer. He was loaned to Sporting Kansas City from Colombian club Deportivo Pereira in 2013, and went on to help SKC win MLS Cup that season before the club made the transfer permanent ahead of the 2014 season. While with Sporting, he also won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2015 and 2017 while recording 108 appearances in the league across seven seasons.

The 30-year-old went on to spend time in MLS with Nashville SC (2020) and Seattle Sounders FC (2020-22). He moved to Columbus Crew in 2023, where he played in 10 matches and won his second MLS Cup title. Over the course of his MLS career, Medranda appeared in 158 matches. The 30-year-old returned to Colombia in 2024, spending the season with Deportivo Cali in the country’s top flight.

“We are excited to welcome Jimmy to San Antonio,” said SAFC Head Coach Carlos Llamosa. “Jimmy brings a lot of experience and leadership to the team, a player who defends well and gives us an extra boost in our attack.”

Paredes joins SAFC after spending two seasons in Colombia’s top division with Millonarios FC, a 16-time winner of the country’s league title. The Arauca, Colombia native began with the U20 team before joining the First Team in January 2023. That season, he scored two goals in 29 matches as the team secured the 2023 Torneo Apertura Championship. The 23-year-old was also a part of the Superliga Colombiana title-winning squad in 2024.

“Luis is a young player with a lot of talent, who has experience with one of the best teams in Colombia,” said Llamosa. “He is a fast and strong winger, and we look forward to seeing him in our attack and welcoming him to the team.”
