OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Wednesday the club had signed forward Peter Wilson ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Wilson joins Roots having spent the past three seasons with Norwegian club FK Jerv, where he recorded 23 goals and six assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. The 28-year-old is coming off a campaign in which he recorded 18 goals in 25 appearances in the Norwegian third tier, leading Jerv into the promotion playoffs.
A native of Monrovia, Libera, Wilson has also made 16 appearances at the senior international level, recording a pair of goals in 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
“Peter is a very prolific striker,” said Oakland Roots Head Coach Gavin Glinton. “He has represented his country and shown he knows how to score across different levels and on multiple different continents. He is a tireless worker and makes life difficult for opposition defenders.”
Prior to his time in Norway, Wilson competed for Olympiakos Nicosia in Cyprus, having previously been part of Moldovan league-winning team FC Sheriff Tiraspol in 2021. He also competed for Swedish club GIF Sundsvall, recording 21 goals and nine assists for the side in 98 appearances across all competitions. That included 19 goals and eight assists in 93 appearances in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top flight.
