DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Tuesday the club had signed midfielder Marcello Polisi on a two-year contract ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Polisi joins Le Rouge having spent the past two seasons in the Canadian Premier League, most recently competing for Valour FC. The 28-year-old recorded 22 appearances during the 2023 campaign, scoring the first goal of his pro career against Atlético Ottawa, before being sidelined for the 2024 campaign due to injury.
Polisi joined Valour FC in 2023 from Canadian Premier League rival HFX Wanderers FC, where he spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Polisi recorded total 2,057 minutes played for the Halifax, Nova Scotia club over 32 league appearances while also making four appearances in the Canadian Championship.
Before joining HFX Wanderers FC, Polisi spent four college seasons at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. Simon Fraser is currently the only Canadian university affiliated with the NCAA. He was named an NCAA Division II All-American in 2017. Polisi totaled six goals, seven assists, and 4,329 minutes in 51 appearances for the Red Leafs.
Polisi also competed in USL League Two for TSS FC Rovers, where he played three seasons between 2017 and 2019 and made 22 appearances.
