PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC announced on Monday the club had signed two-time USL Championship All-League forward Augustine Williams for the 2025 season with a club option for the 2026 campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The Sierra Leone international joins the Hounds having recorded 10 goals and two assists in the 2024 regular season for Indy Eleven, helping the side to a top-four finish in the Eastern Conference. Williams also added three goals in five appearances in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as Indy reached the Semifinals of the tournament for the first time in its history.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and get to meet my new teammates that I will be going to war with,” said Williams. “I’m excited to be part of a team that has a great history and an amazing fan base. I can’t wait to get started and to be able to help the team to achieve our goals this year, which is to win the USL Championship and bring a trophy to Pittsburgh.”

Williams will enter his 10th season in the Championship since making his debut for the Portland Timbers 2 as a teenager in the 2016 season. Since then, he has become one of the most prolific scorers in the league’s history with 76 goals in the regular season, currently good for fifth in the Championship all-time.

The 27-year-old has recorded four seasons in which he logged double-digit goals, earning All-League honors in 2020 with the LA Galaxy II and in 2022 for the Charleston Battery. He has averaged a goal every 207.7 minutes during his time in the league overall.

“Bringing a player like Augi to Pittsburgh is a major signing for our organization,” said Hounds Head Coach Bob Lilley. “It highlights the growth, ambition and investment that [owner] Tuffy [Shallenberger] continues to infuse into our club, the community and Western Pa. soccer.

“Augie is a dangerous striker that can score in a variety of ways, and he is a well-rounded player who fits our system. His ability to hold the ball and link play will make players around him better, and his willingness to work for the team make him a very valuable addition to the 2025 Pittsburgh Riverhounds roster.”

Originally from the Sierra Leonean capital of Freetown, Williams has made seven appearances for his country, the first coming in an African Cup of Nations qualifying win over Benin on June 15, 2021. Williams was later named to his country’s squad for AFCON in 2022 after the Leone Stars qualified for the first time in 16 years.
