MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Wednesday it had signed defender Jonathan Ricketts ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Ricketts joins Miami having spent the 2024 season with fellow USL Championship club Sacramento Republic FC. The 27-year-old made 18 appearances for Republic FC, recording a pair of goals and eight chances created while also winning 66 duels at a 55.9 percent success rate.

Prior to competing for Sacramento, Ricketts competed in the Championship for Rio Grande Valley FC, recording 63 appearances and logging 4,832 minutes of action across two seasons. Ricketts recorded four goals, two assists and 28 chances created for the Toros while winning 79 tackles at a 71.8 percent success rate, 420 duels at a 57.8 percent success rate while making 103 interceptions and 338 recoveries.
A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., Rickett also competed for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, recording 44 appearances and 3,856 minutes across two seasons. In the 2021 season, Ricketts had four goals, four assists and 26 chances created while playing a key role in the Red Wolves advancing to the USL League One Playoffs.
