LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC announced on Wednesday it had acquired goalkeeper Brooks Thompson via transfer from fellow USL Championship side Hartford Athletic ahead of the 2025 season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Thompson joins Lexington having spent the 2024 season on loan with USL League One club Spokane Velocity FC. The 22-year-old made 18 appearances for Velocity as the side advanced to the League One Final, recording 60 saves at a save percentage of 67.1 percent while posting five shutouts and a 1.25 Goals Prevented mark.
A native of Jeffersonville, Ind., Thompson had previously spent time on loan in League One with North Carolina FC during the 2023 season, where he helped NCFC claim the league title with victory in a penalty shootout against the Charlotte Independence. Thompson made 17 appearances for North Carolina over the course of the season, recording 31 saves and four shutouts.
A graduate of the Sporting Kansas City Academy, Thompson made his USL Championship debut in 2019 with Sporting KC II and recorded 12 appearances across three seasons, recording 42 saves and one shutout. He then joined the Philadelphia Union II and made 30 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro across the 2022 and 2023 seasons, recording 57 saves.
