TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa announced on Monday it had signed defender AB Cissoko ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Cissoko joins FC Tulsa after spending the 2024 campaign with Memphis 901 FC, where he ranked fifth on the team with 2,546 minutes across the regular season and playoffs while leading the side with 20 blocked shots while also winning 120 duels at a 57.1 percent success rate and 19 interceptions.

“We are thrilled to welcome AB and his wife to the FC Tulsa family,” said FC Tulsa Sporting Director and General Manager Caleb Sewell. “AB is a talented defender who brings a strong presence both on and off the pitch. His leadership, commitment and defensive skill set will be invaluable to our team as we continue to push toward our goals this season.

“We are confident that AB will make an immediate impact and help elevate our level. We look forward to seeing him thrive in our colors and contribute to our journey ahead.”

Cissoko had previously been part of the Seattle Sounders organization, where he made his debut in the Championship in 2020 season for the Tacoma Defiance. A native of Les Ulis, France, Cissoko has made 46 appearances in the Championship overall while also making 26 appearances for the Sounders in Major League Soccer between the 2021 and 2023 seasons.

While on loan with the Defiance in 2023, he also earned MLS NEXT Pro Best XI honors as he won 32 tackles at a 76.2% success rate and 77 duels at a 62.6% clip. Offensively, he was a key contributor, netting five goals – four from the penalty spot – the second-most among MLS NEXT Pro defenders in 2023.
