PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising on Monday completed the signings of midfielder Noble Okello and goalkeeper Triston Henry ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.
The club also completed the loan agreement which will send defender Edgardo Rito to Caracas FC of the Venezuelan Premier Division for the 2025 season.
Okello joins Rising having most recently competed for Atlanta United 2 during the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. The 24-year-old recorded three goals and two assists in 26 appearances for the side while also completing 1,054 passes at an 87.2 passing accuracy rate and winning 121 duels at a 55.8 percent success rate.
A native of Toronto, Canada, the 6-foot-5 central midfielder began his professional career in the USL Championship with Toronto FC II, making his debut as a 17-year-old during the 2017 campaign. He signed with TFC as a Homegrown Player prior to the 2019 season and in 2020 made his senior Canadian international debut. More recently, he competed for the New England Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro in the 2023 campaign.
“Noble Okello is a player who embodies the qualities we value at Phoenix Rising,” said Phoenix Rising Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah. “His combination of technical skill, physicality, and professional experience adds a significant layer to our midfield. We are thrilled to have him join our team and look forward to integrating him into our system as we aim to achieve great things together.”
Henry arrives in Phoenix after a short stint with Memphis 901 FC during the second half of the 2024 USL Championship campaign. The 31-year-old recorded three shutouts in seven appearances for Memphis, posting a save percentage of 74.2 percent on 23 saves and a goals-against average of 1.14.
Prior to arriving in Memphis, Henry had had spent five seasons in the Canadian Premier League with Forge FC, where he was twice voted the CPL Goalkeeper of the Year in 2020. A native of Scarborough, Ontario, Henry recorded 54 shutouts in 142 appearances for Forge and helped the club win four Canadian Premier League titles during his tenure.
“We’re excited to have Triston joining us here at the club, he has a ton of experience and knows what it takes to win at the highest level,” said Phoenix Rising Goalkeeper Coach Cory Robertson. “Adding someone with his pedigree is huge for the team, and his leadership and consistency will make a big difference for us. I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing the impact he’ll have both on and off the field as we push for success this season.”
Rito heads to his native Venezuela having made 31 appearances for Rising in the 2024 campaign, logging one goal, one assist and 18 chances created. A former Championship All-League selection, the 28-year-old had previously competed for the New York Red Bulls II, Oakland Roots SC and Hartford Athletic and had recorded 10 goals, 13 assists and 113 chances created in 127 appearances in the league overall.
