LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC announced on Tuesday the club had signed Edrey Cáceres ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Cáceres joins the professional ranks in Lexington having most recently competed collegiately for UCLA, where he recorded six goals and two assists in 19 appearances during the 2024 NCAA Division I season, helping the Bruins reach the 2024 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.
“I am so excited to sign with Lexington Sporting Club and begin my professional career,” said Cáceres. “I am grateful for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
Cáceres joined the Bruins having previously competed collegiately at Marquette University, where he earned three consecutive All-Big East Second Team honors between 2021 to 2023. The 23-year-old recorded 11 goals and 14 assists in 50 appearances for the Golden Eagles during three seasons at the school.
Before his collegiate success, Cáceres developed as a member of the Houston Dynamo Academy from 2013 to 2019, earning the prestigious title of Houston Dynamo Academy Player of the Year in 2019. His play for the Dynamo Academy saw him called up to the El Salvador U-23 Men’s National Team in the build-up to the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
“Edrey is a smart, technical player with great ball security,” said Lexington Head Coach Terry Boss. “He can identify dangerous space, and his vertical passing will be valuable to connect and progress our attack.”
