PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Rhode Island FC announced on Wednesday it had signed midfielders Isaac Angking, Amos Shapiro-Thompson and Kevin Vang to new contracts ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.
Angking returns after recording two goals and one assist in eight appearances for RIFC in its inaugural season. A native of Providence, R.I., the Puerto Rico international had previously competed for the New England Revolution while also having stints with reserve team the Revolution II and Columbus Crew 2 before joining Rhode Island last April.
Shapiro-Thompson recorded three appearances in his second professional season having joined RIFC from the New York Red Bulls II of MLS NEXT Pro, where he notched 21 appearances during the 2023 season. A native of Worthington, Mass., the 24-year-old had previously competed at Boston College and in USL League Two for the Western Mass Pioneers before joining the professional ranks.
Vang recorded a pair of appearances in his first season in the professional ranks having previously graduated from the New England Revolution Academy and competed for Providence College. The 24-year-old native of Cranston, R.I., Vang had previously made 83 appearances and recorded four goals and nine assists in 4,877 minutes for the Friars.
