LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Kendall Burks ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Burks joins Lexington having spent the past season with San Antonio FC, where he played in every game of the regular season in an impressive individual campaign. Burks led the Championship with 176 clearances and 138 aeriel duels won at a 70.1 percent success rate, ranked second in the league with 65 interceptions, and also won 189 duels at a 65.6 percent success rate and 27 tackles at a 69.2 percent success rate.
“I am excited to be signing with Lexington SC, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Burks. “It’s a great opportunity to be able to represent Lexington in the club’s first USL Championship season. Ready to give everything for the club and the fans.”
A native of Federal Way, Wash., Burks joins San Antonio having spent two seasons with Chicago Fire FC of Major League Soccer after being selected with the 11th pick of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. Burks made 13 appearances for the Fire while also logging 25 appearances with reserve team Chicago Fire II in MLS NEXT Pro.
"Kendall is a very strong defender and versatile in the backline," said Lexington SC Head Coach Terry Boss. "His confidence and ability on the ball will help us cleanly start our attack. He is dominant in the air and will be an asset in both boxes."
