Colorado Springs exercises contract option on Quenzi Huerman

French forward notched one goal in first professional campaign for Switchbacks

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Wednesday it had exercised its contract option on forward Quenzi Huerman for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Huerman will enter his second season with the Switchbacks having recorded one goal and notched 22 chances created in 22 appearances during the 2024 regular season and playoffs. The 23-year-old also recorded 35 shots and 10 shots on target for the side.

“I’m very excited to come back and play in front of our fans. It’ll be a big year for us as we’ll push to run it back and win it all again,” said Huerman. “I’m here to create a dynasty here in Colorado Springs. Individually, I will strive to show the best version of myself and put on a show for our fans.”

A native of Vannes, France, Huerman entered the professional ranks with the Switchbacks after competing collegiately at the University of North Carolina, Seton Hall University and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Over his college career, he recorded 13 goals and 16 assists in 49 games and was voted the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and to the 2021 All-Sunshine State Conference First Team while competing at Palm Beach Atlantic.

In 2023, Huerman joined the Tar Heels for his senior season where he notched 10 goals and seven assists in 1,467 minutes. Huerman’s play earned him United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team honors, making him the 50th All-American in UNC history, .

During his collegiate career, Huerman also competed in USL League Two with Asheville City SC, where he played for two seasons. During that time, he made 23 appearances, netted nine goals, and provided seven assists. In recognition of his exceptional performance, he was named the 2023 USL League Two South Central Divisional Player of the Year.

“We are excited to have Quenzi back with us for the 2025 season,” said Switchbacks Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “We have seen his technical ability and eye for goals over the course of this past season, but he needs to establish himself in the lineup. Once we see him dictate games, the league will see a talented footballer.”
