LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Friday the club had signed French forward Florian Valot to a one-year contract through the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
A 2016 USL Championship title-winner, Valot returns to Loudoun after recording four goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for the Red-and-White in 2024.
“Florian’s composure on the ball and technique is unique in the USL and having someone with his background in major-league soccer at the club is an incredible asset,” said United Director of Soccer Olly Gage. “We are excited to see Flo take his leadership one step further as he returns to the club for a second year.”
“Florian has proven himself over the years as a top player in any league he has played in,” added Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “I am honored he has decided to return for a second season. When he joined in 2024, I knew he was a good player but had no idea what a tremendous person he is and student of the game. He wants to take this journey with us to get Loudoun to the next level and I am excited to do it with him and this group.”
Valot has built an impressive career over the past decade in both the USL Championship and Major League Soccer. He made his debut in the professional ranks for the New York Red Bulls II during the side’s title-winning campaign in 2016 and recorded 13 goals and 14 assists in 56 appearances for the club before joining the Red Bulls for the 2018 campaign.
The 31-year-old recorded five goals and nine assists in 48 appearances in Major League Soccer for the Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati before moving to Miami FC in the USL Championship for the 2022 season. He has currently made 147 appearances in the Championship across the regular season and playoffs, logging 24 goals and 30 assists.
“I’m beyond excited to re-sign with the team,” said Valot. “Last season was a turning point for me, and I truly believe in the progress we’ve made and the direction we’re heading. It’s been an incredible journey, and even though we didn’t make the playoffs, I’ve seen something growing here – the enthusiasm around the team, the passion from our fans, and the deepening connection with the community.
“For me, last season reignited my love for the sport and reminded me why I fell in love with the game in the first place. The style of play we’re developing and the club’s long-term vision make me genuinely excited for what’s to come. I’ve built real bonds with my teammates, and being part of this group feels like something bigger than just football. I’m fully invested in the success of this club, both on and off the field, and I want to do everything I can to help us grow. Our shared ambition to win trophies is something I’m eager to help make a reality. I’m confident that, together, we’ll achieve even greater things in the seasons ahead.”
