ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Friday the club had exercised its contract option to retain forward Greg Hurst for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Hurst returns to United coming off his best season in the USL Championship in which he led the club with 12 goals while also recording career highs in shots (58), shooting accuracy (69.4 percent) and shot conversion rate (24.5 percent).
The 27-year-old has recorded 16 goals in 68 appearances in the Championship for New Mexico over the past two seasons overall, logging 3,821 minutes across the regular season and playoffs.
Prior to joining New Mexico, Hurst spent one season with Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship where he recorded six goals and five assists in 31 appearances during the 2022 season.
He additionally spent three seasons in USL League One, where in 2021 he recorded a career-high 14 goals for Union Omaha in 30 appearances while leading Los Buhos to their first USL League One title. Overall, Hurst recorded 24 goals in 51 games across three seasons, having also competed for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
