LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC announced on Thursday the club had signed central midfielder Speedy Williams and winger Marcus Epps ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.

Williams joins Lexington after most recently helping Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to the 2024 USL Championship title in November. The Switchbacks’ victory against Rhode Island FC marked the fourth time the Jamaican international had been part of a Championship title-winning side, the most of any individual player in league history.

The 32-year-old will return to Kentucky with LSC having previously competed for Louisville City FC, where he helped the side win the 2017 and 2018 Championship titles.

“Being part of the first squad for LSC in the USL Championship is exciting,” said Williams. “The visible ambition of the club is something any player would want to be associated with. I’m looking forward to contributing to the club’s success and being a part of this historic journey.”

Williams has made 244 regular season appearances in the league in his career since his rookie season with the New York Red Bulls II in 2015, ranking 10th in the league’s regular season history with 20,207 minutes of action. He claimed his first Championship title with the Red Bulls II in 2016 and has recorded 12 goals and 18 assists in the league’s regular season overall.

“Speedy is a winner and has been one of the best central midfielders in the league for a long time,” said LSC Head Coach Terry Boss. “He is bringing four USL Championship trophies, leadership, and a winning mentality to LSC. We are excited to have him on board.”

Epps joins Lexington having most recently competed for USL Championships side Hartford Athletic. The 29-year-old has recorded 34 goals, 22 assists and 223 chances in 198 regular season appearances in the league since making his debut for Bethlehem Steel FC in the 2017 season.

“I’m very excited to be signing with Lexington SC,” said Epps. “I can’t wait to get into Lexington with this new group and build on the success and hard work that’s already been instilled in this club. I believe we will build a memorable year on and off the pitch with the Lexington fans and community.”

A native of Jackson, Miss., Epps had a standout 2023 season with FC Tulsa in which he recorded career highs with nine goals and seven assists. He has also had prior stops at clubs including Phoenix Rising FC, San Antonio FC and Memphis 901 FC in the Championship.

“Marcus is a dynamic winger whose ability to get to the end line or cut inside makes him a real attacking threat,” said Boss. “His versatility allows him to adapt to different game situations, keeping defenders guessing and creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. We’re excited to see him thrive in our system and contribute to our success this season.”
