LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Wednesday it had signed midfielder Jansen Wilson to a new multi-year contract following a standout rookie campaign for the club. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Wilson returns after scoring nine goals in his debut professional season, which he split between wingback and forward roles, while recording 30 chances created in 35 appearances. The Elizabethtown, Ky. native is expected to grow into a more attacking position in the 2025 campaign.

“It was a joy to watch Jansen grow throughout his first professional season,” said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. “He is a versatile player that showed his ability to positively affect our team's performances. My belief is that he will continue to improve and play an important role with this club in the future. Jansen deserves to be rewarded, and I am excited that we were able to agree to a long-term contract.”

Wilson had trained with LouCity while competing collegiately and signed his first contract with the club following a successful preseason trial. He earned a starting role for the club's 2024 season opener and went on to record 33 regular season appearances.

Wilson's switch from wingback to forward came amid a spate of injuries for LouCity to open August. He responded by scoring five goals in as many games as City defeated the Western Conference's top-two teams (New Mexico United, Sacramento Republic FC) and Eastern Conference's second-place squad (Charleston Battery) in succession. The stretch proved vital to the boys in purple securing the 2024 Players' Shield.

Wilson's nine goals were the most netted by a LouCity rookie and ranked second overall on the team.

“I'm beyond excited to sign a new contract with Louisville City FC and continue this incredible journey with such an amazing team and fanbase,” said Wilson. “The support from the city has been nothing short of incredible, and I'm looking forward to reaching even greater heights with the team. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and am ready to work towards earning a third star in purple. The best is yet to come.”
