CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery announced on Tuesday the club had signed midfielder Chris Allan to a new multi-year contract, extending Allan’s stay in the Lowcountry after two impactful seasons for the Black and Yellow. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Allan has made 76 appearances across all competitions for the Battery since joining in 2023, the third-most on the active roster at the end of 2024. The English midfielder has been instrumental in the club’s back-to-back runs to the Eastern Conference Final, including winning the 2023 USL Championship Eastern Conference title.
“I’m so happy to be continuing my time here in Charleston and to work with the tireless people that have made this club what it is today,” said Allan. “I think we have something really special going on between the club, the community and the rising success we have shared together throughout my time here. There is nowhere I’d rather be playing than Charleston.”
“We are thrilled to extend Chris and his family with our club, he is one of the most consistent midfielders in all of the USL and extremely professional and reliable,” added Battery Head Coach Ben Pirmann. “As one of the highest possession teams in the league, we rely on Chris to do it all and he does. He is an excellent player but an even better person, we want to continue to build a strong squad and win trophies, and to do that we must have players and people like Chris in our squad.”
Across the 2024 regular season and playoffs, the 26-year-old recorded five assists, eight blocks, 18 clearances, 26 chances created, 34 interceptions, 39 tackles won and 102 duels won. Allan’s versatility was showcased in the latter stages of the season when he deputized at left-back for multiple matches.
Allan was a two-time Team of the Week selection in 2024 for his exceptional performances in Weeks 9 and 29.
Allan first joined the Battery in 2023, appearing in 39 matches across all competitions en route to the USL Championship Final. He previously played for Memphis 901 FC and Atlanta United 2, and developed at the University of Charleston (WV) and the Sunderland A.F.C. academy.
