Juan Agudelo among returnees for San Antonio FC in 2025

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Wednesday its initial roster moves for the 2025 USL Championship season. Juan Agudelo, Rece Buckmaster, Nelson Flores Blanco and Jake LaCava all remain under contract, while SAFC has exercised contract options on Sofiane Djeffal, Luke Haakenson and Mohamed Omar. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Agudelo returns for his second season after posting a team-high eight goals and 36 shots in the 2024 campaign. The former United States Men’s National Team player also recorded four assists in 28 appearances.

Buckmaster and Flores Blanco, meanwhile, return after their midseason arrivals at Toyota Field this past season. Buckmaster made 13 appearances, earning his first Team of the Week recognition in October. Flores Blanco appeared in 17 contests, ranking fifth on the team with 16 chances created.

LaCava joined the club in June and recorded 17 shots in 1,265 minutes of play. The former Championship Young Player of the Year scored San Antonio’s opening goal in a 2-2 draw against Copa Tejas rival El Paso Locomotive FC in October.

Haakenson returns for his second season with the club after appearing in 31 matches in 2024. The Creighton product ranked second on the team in chances created with 23 and finished third on the team in goals (2), assists (2) and shots (27), while also recording 40 clearances and 15 interceptions.

Djeffal posted 284 minutes in eight matches after signing with SAFC in July, while Omar played 384 minutes in seven regular season matches before suffering a season-ending injury in May.

Additionally, SAFC has declined Kameron Lacey’s option.
