DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Tuesday its first roster update following the conclusion of the 2024 USL Championship season, exercising contract options on forwards Connor Rutz and Jeciel Cedeño to give the club nine players currently under contract for the 2025 campaign.
Rutz is set for his sixth season with Le Rouge after recording three goals, one assist and 11 key passes across 1,116 minutes of action in the 2024 season. Cedeño, meanwhile, will enter his first full season in Detroit in 2025 after his midseason acquisition from Oakland Roots SC, following which he made 12 appearances for the side.
Also set to return to DCFC in 2025 having previously been under contract are goalkeeper Carlos Saldana, defenders Devon Amoo-Mensah, Steven Carroll and Alex Villanueva, midfielder Rhys Williams and Dominic Gasso, and forward Ben Morris.
The club also announced it had declined contract options on defender James Murphu midfielders Ryan Williams and Daniel Espeleta, and forward Elvis Amoh, while remaining in talks with Williams in regard to a potential return.
