TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa announced on Thursday it had re-signed goalkeeper Johan Peñaranda to a multi-year contract ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Peñaranda returns to Green Country after a stellar campaign that saw him claim USL Championship Player of the Month honors in July, becoming the first FC Tulsa player ever to receive the award.
A native of Long Beach, New York, Peñaranda blossomed in 2024, posting a goals-against average of 1.09 and a save percentage of 78 percent, good for second-highest in the league among qualified goalkeepers, as well as seven shutouts and a league-best three penalty-kick saves. The 24-year-old also logged a Goals Prevented mark of 6.76, second only to Championship Golden Glove winner Eric Dick in the league.
Initially signed to a 25-day contract after competing for USL League Two club AC Miami earlier this year, Peñaranda recorded shutouts in five of his first eight matches, during which time he signed for the remainder of the season.
Tulsa also announced on Thursday a collection of end-of-season roster decisions, declining contract options on midfielders Camilo Ponce, Luca Sowinski and Milo Yosef, defender Angel Bernal and forward Diogo Pacheco. The club also announced defenders Rashid Tetteh and Bradley Bourgeois and midfielder Blaine Ferri were out of contract, while the club also mutually agreed to terminate the contract of goalkeeper Joey Roggeveen.
