SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento City Council on Tuesday night unanimously passed by an 8-0 vote a term sheet outlining a set of proposals that will accelerate development of Sacramento Republic FC’s soccer-specific stadium. As a result of Tuesday's action, Republic FC is another step closer to acquiring the stadium site from the current landowners.

Focused on a 31-acre plot in the eastern portion of the Sacramento Railyards, the term sheet was agreed last week by the office of Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Republic FC and the Downtown Railyard Venture. The proposed 12,000 to 15,000-capacity stadium would take up 14 acres, with the remaining 17 acres featuring plans that could include commercial real estate, housing and a hotel.

“On behalf of the entire club and its fans, we’re incredibly grateful for the support of the entire City Council and Mayor Darrell Steinberg as well as the diligent work of the City Manager Howard Chan and his staff,” said Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant in a club statement. “Tonight’s vote is yet another important milestone in solidifying our new home. We’re excited to press forward and begin building a new neighborhood for the Indomitable City.”

Republic FC is now aiming to pursue an aggressive construction timetable that will see the new venue open in 2027. In the coming months, the club is set to announce construction partners, release design information, and share information about how fans can secure a priority spot at Republic Stadium.
