Rhode Island FC announced on Wednesday the club had re-signed midfielder Zach Herivaux to a multi-year contract extension beginning in the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
The 28-year-old has made a notable impact for Rhode Island since being acquired via transfer from the Tampa Bay Rowdies in July. Herivaux has recorded a career-high four goals and also notched one assist in 14 appearances for the club while also recording 10 interceptions, 34 recoveries and winning 16 tackles defensively.
A native of Osaka, Japan, Herivaux grew up in New England and was a Homegrown Signing for the New England Revolution in 2015. He has played the majority of his career in the USL Championship, making 115 appearances across the regular season and playoffs, predominantly with Birmingham Legion FC, where he worked with current Rhode Island FC Sporting Director and Head Coach Khano Smith.
Herivaux has recorded nine goals, four assists and 63 chances created in his career while also notching 131 tackles won at a 67.2 percent success rate, 556 duels won at a 55.3 percent success rate, 114 interceptions and 463 recoveries in 7,581 minutes of action.
In addition to his club career, Herivaux has made 17 senior international appearances for Haiti, including competing for the side at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
