Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC's Jairo Henriquez and San Antonio FC's Nelson Flores Blanco have been named in El Salvador's squad for next week's Concacaf Nations League action.
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC attacking midfielder Jairo Henriquez and San Antonio FC defender Nelson Flores Blanco have been named in El Salvador’s squad for the side’s pair of Concacaf Nations League contests in October against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The countries will meet twice at Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as they vie for promotion from League B and for a spot in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup. The first meeting is set for Thursday, Oct. 10 before a second clash on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Henriquez and Blanco have each been regular call-ups for El Salvador this year, with Henriquez having recorded four goals and five assists in 48 senior national team outings. The 31-year-old has notched two goals and two assists in 21 appearances for the Championship this season notching 13 chances created as well.
Blanco, meanwhile, notched his first assist since joining San Antonio earlier this season from North Carolina FC last week and has made 13 appearances for the side since his arrival in June. The 25-year-old has made 16 appearances for El Salvador in his career, including appearing in both of the side’s victories against Monserrat and Bonaire to open the group in September.
In a change to the regular home-and-home format of international play, groups in League B and League C are playing games in a rotation of regional pods, with El Salvador set to host the final two games in Group A play in November.
La Selecta currently sits on top of the group with two wins from two games, while St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a win and a draw to sit two points back in the standings. The group winner will earn a place in the Concacaf Gold Cup and promotion to League A for the next edition of the CNL.
