TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for August, honoring four of the top performers throughout the third month of the 2024 season as they take their place on the ballot.
Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:
A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, September 9 at 12 p.m. ET.
The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.
The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, September 12.
Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.
Nick Markanich, Charleston Battery – The 24-year-old led all players with seven goal contributions in August, recording five goals and two assists while averaging a goal every 79.8 minutes to extend his lead in the race for the Golden Boot.
Khori Bennett, Las Vegas Lights FC – The Jamaican forward recorded five goals in four appearances, sitting tied for the monthly lead in goals with a strike rate of a goal every 55.8 minutes, a shooting accuracy rate of 69.2 percent and a shot conversion rate of 38.5 percent.
Mamadou Dieng, Hartford Athletic – The 20-year-old recorded five goals in five appearances to tie for the monthly lead in goals while averaging a goal every 77.2 minutes. Dieng also led the Championship with a +2.97 Goals Added rate across the month per American Soccer Analysis.
Jansen Wilson, Louisville City FC – Wilson recorded five goals in five appearances to sit tied for the league-lead in goals over the month and posted a strike rate of a goal every 76.6 minutes while notching a shooting accuracy rate of 63.6 percent and shot conversion rate of 45.5 percent.
