INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Tuesday the club had signed midfielder Abrahim "Brem" Soumaoro for the remainder of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Soumaoro joins the Boys in Blue bringing more than a decade of professional experience in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Canada to the club. The 28-year-old most recently competed for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League, where he made 39 appearances as a center back and a defensive midfielder, recording two goals and two assists while also captaining the side.
Soumaoro began his career in the Netherlands with Jong FC Twente and Go Ahead Eagles before signing with Serie B side Livorno. A short return to Jong FC Twente followed before a switch to Den Boscha, after which his Dutch movement continued with MVV Maastricht. Prior to York, Soumaoro played for Cypriot second division side PAEEK.
In addition to his club career, Soumaoro has played in 11 matches for the Liberian national team, including two World Cup qualifiers in 2021, and notched one assist in 883 minutes of action.
