Former United States international Dom Dwyer scored his first goal for Oakland Roots SC on Saturday afternoon as the club celebrated its fifth anniversary with a 1-0 victory against New Mexico United at Pioneer Stadium.

It had been 4,101 days since he last found the net in the USL Championship’s regular season for Orlando City SC on June 9, 2013. It was the last goal he scored before being recalled from his loan to the Lions by Sporting Kansas City.

Here’s how long ago that was.

- The USL Championship contained 13 teams, and included the Charleston Battery, Orange County SC and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, plus USL League One’s Richmond Kickers, who won the Players’ Shield that season.

- Major League Soccer had 19 teams – including Chivas USA – and the New York Red Bulls won the Supporters’ Shield for their first silverware in club history.

- The United States was in the middle of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and in June swept three consecutive wins against Jamaica, Panama and Honduras. Jozy Altidore (3), Eddie Johnson (1) and Brad Evans (1) provided the goals.

- Also occurring on June 9, 2013, a Miami Heat team led by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh beat a San Antonio Spurs team led by Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and second-year pro Kahwi Leonard 103-84 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on their way to a 4-3 series win.

- Iron Man 3 was at theaters nationwide with Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark. It was the seventh movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – there are now 34 movies in the MCU, and Downey Jr. is preparing to be Doctor Doom.

- Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton was in the middle of a five-week run at No.1 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

- Random Access Memories by Daft Punk was the No. 1 album in the country.

- The Purge was the No. 1 movie in America.

- The youngest player to appear alongside Dwyer for Roots on Saturday, Ilya Alekseev, was eight years old, while assist man Memo Diaz was 18 years old.
